There's some things I've learned about Mommy-hood that none of the books ever said.... I decided to list my top 10 right here for your reading pleasure :-)
10) Poop can be an explosive thing. It can go from happily contained in a diaper to shooting up a babys back and out of the neck of his onesie in less than 2.6 seconds. Anytime you plan on leaving the house, pack multiple spare outfits... you'll need them.
9) For the first month or so, your baby will have NO concept of night time and that it was invented for sleeping! :-) He won't really care that you feel like you're sitting on a barbed wire fence.. he'll want to be awake at 2 am and you don't get a whole lot of say in the matter! As time goes on it'll get a little better. But only a little!
8) The first time the baby does sleep through the night, you will wake every hour waiting for him to wake up. When he dosen't, you'll feel the compelling need to make sure he's still breathing. You'll get less sleep that night than you did all those other nights when he was waking you up!!
7) The first real, intentional smile... it'll make your heart melt. You'll probably cry!
6) 9 months of pregnancy feels like it takes a LONG time... once the baby's here, time will NEVER feel like that again... cherish it!
5) You'll feel like the slime on the bottom of a dirty pool the first time you do something for someone you've probably forgotten ever existed...you... even if it's having Daddy watch him while you have an uniterrupted shower, or something that takes even less time, it'll still feel that way! There's no way around it.
4) Spit happens. It happens a lot. Be prepared. As soon as you're dressed for work, he can (and usually will) spit up on you!
3) You'll have a completley new view of your parents. You'll now think back to all those things you did to them while you were growing up, and realize.... oh... my... god....
2) You could have the worst day in the world, and the second you see that toothy grin, or hear that silly little giggle, instantly your day is better!
1) Nobody tells you how much it HURTS when you (and baby) are learning to nurse... and nobody tells you how much it hurts when it has to end.....
