I think that there is some sort of electronic/ appliance ghost that lives in our house... or maybe anything new and expensive that we acquire knows that it lives in our house now, so it plans an early death.....
We were sitting in the living room on Thursday, watch TV on our BRAND NEW flat screen TV and it died.... the whole screen went completely black... and when you tried to turn it off or on, it made a loud popping noise....
Let me re-count the list of things that have died in the 3 1/2 years that we have lived here: (drum roll, please.........)
1) The first thing that went about 2 months after we moved in was the dryer... keep in mind it came with the house, was extremely old and operated on gas.... so that wasn't a terrible thing. We had some gift cards and coupons for home depot, so not a huge expense for us.
2) Maybe a month later the dishwasher died. My indication on this one was the burnt plastic smell :-)
3) In January of the first year here, the furnace died. That one hurt the wallet a little more... $1700 bucks with installation....
4) Then came our 2nd dishwasher. One of the pipes underneath froze and burst... conveniently when we were not home... we arrived home to a wet dog, an even wetter kitchen and a flooded basement.....
5) Shortly after Logan was born, the TV in our bedroom nearly caught fire. It wasn't even turned on when it started this really high pitched screech, then there was the burning plastic smell and the glow coming out of the back!
6) Just before Christmas 2008, we had a power surge that got both our TV's, all the lights, our circuit box (or whatever that's called!) all the smoke detectors, Logan's monitor and various other electronics
7) our TV this past Sunday.
What the hell?? How do I stop this ghost from ruining all my stuff!? My vote is to move... still working on Andrew on that one..... ;-)
